IDENTIFYING WHAT PIMPLES ARE
Today we are going to be talking about a very popular and general skin condition common everywhere, PIMPLES. Let’s start by defining what we understand by the word “pimples”.
According to a mobile dictionary, “pimples (plural: pimples) are inflamed (raised and coloured) spot on the surface of the skin that is usually painful and fills with pus”.
This condition according to some people is called ACNE which according to a mobile English dictionary refers to “a skin condition, usually of the face, that is common in adolescents and is characterised by red pimples, and is caused by the inflammation of sebaceous glands through bacterial infection”.
Also, according to GOOGLE.COM, “pimples are inflammations of the skin in which the sebaceous glands (oil glands) become infected with bacterial, swell up and fill with pus and it usually occur on the face, neck, back and shoulders.”
CAUSES OF PIMPLES
I love this section where we talk about the causes of pimples.
Most people say pimples are caused by eating foods like groundnut, vegetable oil, butter, etc. which are partially true. I used the word “partially true” because they are not totally wrong. And as we move on, you will see the reason why they are not totally wrong
Talking about the cause of pimples, pimples happens when an oily substance called sebum clogs pores are being secreted by oil glands in the skin. And let me say this, this is the primary cause. And note that ACNE (pimple) is not a serious health risk, even though severe acne may result in permanent scars which may damage self-esteem.
In other words, pimples are caused by the inflammation of the sebaceous glands (oil secretion glands) through bacterial infection.
Foods like butter, groundnuts, etc. contains oils which aid the secretion of oils in the body by the sebaceous gland. But note that the oils are already in the body even before you eat these foods. So now you see that these foods don’t primarily cause pimples, they just aid it.
EFFECTS OF USING CHEMICAL PRODUCTS TO CURE PIMPLES
This aspect is also interesting. Youths of nowadays employ the use of different products in curing pimples. And to be sincere, most of these products work minimally but later result in something else.
NOTE: Most products people use these days result in the lightening of the face and other places applied to. What these product do is that, they strongly reduce the melanin (the pigment that gives human skin, hair and eyes their color) on the skin. And the more the melanin reduces, the lighter the person becomes (Dark-skinned people have more melanin than the light-skinned ones).
These products only cure the pimples temporarily because the infection is in the blood.
Lightening your skin with these products while trying to remove pimples may result into cancer when your skin gets exposed to the sun.
CURING, MINIMIZING AND AVOIDING PIMPLES
There are so many ways people cure pimples nowadays some of which would be discussed here right now.
TAKING CARE OF YOUR SKIN
1. Do wash your face often or twice a day
2. Use a non-comedogenic moisturizer
3. Avoid touching your face or popping pimples
4. Avoid overloading your face with products (as said earlier)
5. Protect your skin from sun rays
6. And finally, drink plenty of water
Now we go to other methods:
1. Steam your face: This can be done by filling a big container with hot water and let the steam come in contact with your face. This will open up the pores of your skin, let your skin breathe, get rid of bacteria, dirt and oils trapped inside the pores which may cause inflammation.
2. Use Honey: This method is 100% pure and natural. Make sure you use the original honey and leave it on your face for as long as possible, then wash with clean water.
3. Now, let’s rush the rest. You can also apply a cucumber mask on your face, or treat your face with lemon juice.
